SPECIAL NOTE FOR PHD STUDENTS: If you are a PhD student and would like to receive the student member discount for your conference registration, please ensure that you have a current SMS student membership prior to purchasing your conference registration. No adjustments can be made to conference registration fees after purchase.
Important Notes on Registration:
- The correct registration type for all participants, including authors, is "attendee". It is the only option available in the check-out flow.
- An additional $100 late registration fee will apply after April 21.

Registration Policies:
- Registration Required: You must register to attend any of the conference activities. Name badges are required for access to conference spaces and events.
- Student Registration: Only full-time, in-residence students at PhD-granting institutions qualify for student rates.
- Non-Members: Non-members can qualify for member rates by first becoming a member of the SMS.
- Payment Timeline: Fees for a specific registration period are valid only if payment is completed within 14 days of registration.
- Cancellations & Transfers: No refunds are available for cancellations due to costs already incurred. However, you may transfer your registration to another individual. If the transfer is to a higher registration fee (e.g., from member to non-member), the transferee must pay the price difference.
- Travel Insurance: We recommend purchasing travel insurance, as many providers offer coverage for event registration fees.
